Week 2, Jan 21 – Weekly Wrap Up

1.) The De-Platforming
2.) Affirm & Poshmark
3.) Visa not match with Plaid
4.) Dude, Where’s My Bitcoin?

1.) The De-Platforming: Trump has been permanently suspended by Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Shopify, Stripe and more after the violence at the Capitol last week. Parler also lost a lot of its distributive powers. Free speechists are mad, Trump is livid, Jack is publicly introspective, and after trying to stay far away even Zuckerberg put his foot down. Expect more questions and criticisms to be focused on Big Tech in the ’20s

2.) Affirm & Poshmark: two more tech companies went public. Two more had their stock double from their set IPO offering price. The marginal retail buyer is freakin hungry!

3.) Visa not match with Plaid: get it? Plaid called off their acquisition by Visa after it was tied up in regulatory limbo for over a year and…they must have looked around and probably thought they could do better than a $5.3B valuation in this market independently. So off they go to get SPAC’d or something!

4.) Dude, Where’s My Bitcoin?: A wild NYT article this past week highlighted some early Bitcoin adopters who lost or threw away the keys to some currently insane >$XXM fortunes. Decentralized giveth…and decentralized loseth

Have a great weekend everybody!
