Week 4, May 21 – Weekly Wrap Up

1.) Crypto Cooled by China
2.) Amazon “New Suits”
3.) Virgin Galactic Takes Flight
4.) FloodGates Remain Open

1.) Crypto Cooled by China: There was a pretty significant selloff in the crypto markets this past week led by Bitcoin after China “reiterated” their plans to restrict mining. Is it because of their plans to offer a state sponsored competitor? Emissions & energy costs? Volatility in the world of cryptocurrency remains a constant

2.) Amazon “New Suits”: There’s an antitrust lawsuit out of DC, there’s a new suit in the executive suite on July 5th with Bezos officially handing over the CEO reins to Jassy, and James Bond and all his cool suits are coming over via the MGM Studios acquisition, Amazon’s largest since Whole Foods in 2017. Suits!

3.) Virgin Galactic Takes Flight: Space tourism! How cool does that sound? Virgin Galactic completed a long awaited and important milestone in their space venture last Saturday by completing a successful manned spaceflight out of their hub in New Mexico. The third US state to launch astronauts successfully into space!

4.) FloodGates Remain Open: Bad information continues to flood out of Gates’ world. This week the NYT published an expose on Bill’s money manager who seemed to have been involved in a few workplace incidents over the years..to put it mildly. Truly, how well do you know the tech icons you read about or see on TV? Not well at all, really.
