Mercifully or Merrily On To 2022
Can you believe the end of the year is upon us? Mercifully or merrily, depending upon your perspective. Whether you led dozens of people or just yourself there was no shortage of psychology to manage in 2021. This will be our last piece of content for the year. I need a break too!
To the People Ops, Facilities, and other operational leaders out there who worked tirelessly on remote work plans, return to office plans (that never happened) and every other logistic this year threw our way…I salute you. You’re the real startup heroes of 2021!
What’s the playbook on becoming a corporate infectious disease expert? I haven’t a clue. If one thing rang true this year it’s “the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing”. That Socrates dude knew a thing or two.
Over the next couple weeks I’ll settle down to watch some holiday movies. Home Alone, It’s A Wonderful Life, Four Christmases, and The Family Stone are some of my favorites. They’re all movies about family. Messy families. They’ve got laughs, some sadness, and great casts. Maybe it’s the big family I come from or the startup employee in me but I’ve seen a mess or two. We’re all living in our own little messy movies, aren’t we? Would you believe the plot line from the past 24 months just a few years ago? No chance.
So what’s coming in 2022? Hopefully some comedy. Hopefully some joy. Ideally a great cast around you. But definitely some unavoidable messiness. Things aren’t slowing down from here. And you do NOT want to know how long ago Home Alone came out.. Get some rest. Happy Holidays!
