Someone has said that to you these past couple weeks, haven’t they? Tech employees of all flavors are dying to push anything they can (not required by their OKRs) to 2023. I mean it’s been a hell of a year x 2+ between COVID and just about everything else in the news these days. Who isn’t dying to catapult their professional life into Q1 and leave ’22 behind?

All I’m saying is that if you can do a liiittle more follow up ahead of this year that won’t end, you’ll be glad you did. Whether it’s to close out projects, deals, or whatever it is that you do if you can get something closed out in Q4 you’ve won.

I had a realization the other day. You imagine yourself, a professional of extraordinary talents, operating with a sense of accelerating ease as you advance in your career. People will prioritize your work, respond to your emails swiftly, and clamor to schedule time to hear your unmatched wisdom. I’m sure that’s true for some of you!

But that largely won’t be the case.. People are just too busy and selfish and forgetful to keep you correctly prioritized at the top of their mind. So as you’re fighting to close those things out this year, hopefully you know that everyone still has to send follow ups and chase people, however high up and important they are. It’s part of the game.

Even Ye isn’t getting texts back! Maybe that’s a story for another day..
