1.) Epic Courtroom Battle: Monday was the beginning of the Epic Games antitrust trial against Apple. Project Liberty it’s reportedly called at Epic internally. Their master plan to assault the app stores and open up the mobile gaming markets profits. Win, lose, or draw it’s likely going to be damaging to Apple. Gatekeeping aint easy

2.) Oversight About-Face:
Facebook’s independent oversight board upheld the company decision to remove Trump on Jan 6th. However, they turned the decision back over to the company to determine whether it is a permanent suspension (ban) or a temporary (time bound) suspension. Like we said, gatekeeping aint easy

3.) Yahoo’s Apollo Mission:
Yahoo! is back in the news of M&A after being sold by Verizon to private equity firm Apollo. They’re dropping the “!” and have plans to bring this Internet 1.0 darling back to the big leagues. Everyone loves a good comeback story. Let’s go!

4.) Opening the Gates:
oh you quit it, this is a reputable weekly wrap up source not a gossip rag! Happiness to Bill & Melinda on the next chapter of their lives. Gatekeeping aint easy and neither is marriage!

5.) RIP Dave Swensen:
you may be unfamiliar with his name outside of the world of endowments but Yale lost a giant in Dave Swensen this week. He pioneered venture capital as a key piece of institutional asset management portfolio allocation. And some serious Yale endowment outperformance. All you ping pong playing, nap pod napping, remote working managers owe some of your venture capital coattail riding success to Dave. Rest in peace!
