Week 2, September 21 – Weekly Wrap Up

1.) Apple Pays Out
2.) Amazon University
3.) Office Reopening Paused
4.) Crypto & The SEC

1.) Apple Pays Out: in order to settle some class action distraction Apple agreed to let developers use payment options that live outside of Apple’s iOS payment system. Lose a battle to preserve the sanctity of the richest economic ecosystem on Earth, the Captains of Cupertino must be thinking

2.) Amazon University: 750k Amazon workers are eligible for fully funded college tuition (includes class, books, and fees). Does not include kegs though. One the one hand, this is amazing! On the other, this says more about the number of employees they estimate are likely (or not likely) to take advantage of this perk. Plus they need more workers, so there ya go
3.) Office Reopening Paused: Microsoft and LinkedIn have both publicly stated they’re no longer setting any expectations for a return of office. Companies are getting more flexible, Delta is running rampant, and who can really plan while God laughs
4.) Crypto & The SEC: Coinbase announced a plan to expand into lending products and were promptly served with a Wells Notice, the SEC’s way of saying they’re going to sue you in federal court. Brian Armstrong said the SEC’s actions are “sketchy behavior”. The financial world is in upheaval and it’s going to be interesting to watch!
